WUKY Commits To Diversity

Tom Godell, General Manager of WUKY, shared the following update as part of their participation with PMFA, and their commitment to our DEI action items for organizations. They plan to update the Commitment To Diversity page on their website with the status of various PMFA action items as they progress in their DEI work. WUKY serves as an example of how stations that are university licensees can join PMFA.

“WUKY affirms that in a country and a community that has been rapidly diversifying, where people of color will be the majority in a couple of decades, it is imperative to the survival of our organization and the success of our service to rapidly diversify our programming, audiences, donors, staff and leadership.

To accomplish this WUKY commits to:

• Present more diverse voices on air and seek out more diverse sources for news.

• Reach more diverse audiences through our broadcasts, new media and community events.

• Attract more diverse listeners, members and underwriters.

• Increase efforts to diversify the WUKY staff.

Beyond the clear business case for diversity, WUKY is taking these steps because these actions are right, just, fair, and inclusive.
